Why is my bike drawing about a 10th of an amp when parked up. Does that sound normal ? The bike is fitted with an alarm but thats not armed.
Thoughts anyone?

Does the alarm self arm....? Failing that, I wonder if the immobiliser draws a current and if so, how much...or if you've got a slight leak to earth somewhere?

I suspect the latter, but where to start finding it. Just seems to be a recent development as the (new) battery had no problems starting the bike if it had been idle for several days. Now it seems to be dropping so fast that after 3/4 days it wont start. Obviously I can keep it on an Optimiser all the time, but would prefer to get to the bottom of whatever is going on.

Hi Kim

the most common reason for this is a 'leakage' or 'drain' through one of a few different reasons.

1) degraded or damaged wiring insulation
2) faulty or corroded switchgear
3) Battery cell damage

The term "earth leakage" has little bearing on the situation apart from commonly being linked with corroded parts and terminals.
